The Datalogic S62 is a compact rectangular photoelectric sensor (about 18 x 50 x 50 mm) used on conveyors, packaging machines and assembly lines. One housing comes in several sensing modes, so a plant can standardise on one mounting style and choose the optical function for each position.

All S62 models use a red LED (640 nm), run on 10 … 30 Vdc, respond in 500 µs, switch up to 1 kHz and are rated IP67 for operation from -10 to 55 °C.
Which S62 to choose
- Background suppression (M01, M11): detects the object and ignores whatever is behind it, set with a 6-turn distance trimmer. Best when objects change colour or a shiny machine frame sits behind them.
- Long diffuse (C11): no reflector needed, up to 2 m on suitable targets. Good for large objects such as cartons and bins.
- Polarized retroreflective (B01): works with a reflector up to 8 m and ignores shiny objects. Good for crossing wide conveyors.
PN or PP?
The last letters show the output. PP versions have a PNP output; PN versions offer PNP/NPN, which makes them flexible replacements. Check your PLC input type before ordering.
